So I just got back from a 5 day road trip which I failed to post about here, so I'm reeeally sorry to anyone I left high and dry. But, at least I had fun?

I drank like a fish, and I think I won't be boozing again for quite some time. Bought a new computer today to, so I'm going to be giving it a test drive on the 'net tomorrow. Until then, I go back to slaving away at replies and on my games.

Hooly crap. I honestly didn't expect that kind of response to padawans. I spent all of yesterday working on things frantically, and today I napped for soo long. So tomorrow I'll finally get around to my replies in the psl ( that means you, ten! sorry ) and in morphin( mm, sunny + maddie too ).

I'll also be throwing up something to launch padawans tomorrow afternoon, and the Padawans + Pirates first major mission will follow on its heels. Operation: KIDNAPSAVE THE PRINCESS will commence at some point. For now, I'm going to pass out.

I'm going snowboarding this weekend, so I won't be back until Sunday sometime. I'll get to my tags in the PR and vigil game when I get back. I'll be pimping the Star Wars game soon, so for those of you who want early holds go ahead and check it out at [info]padawans.

It's not pretty to look at, but that's about the extent of my skill! Anyway, time to make an ass of myself on the slopes. Peace.

So I think I've got the whole " WOO I'M BACK LET'S GET FUCKING DRUNK " phase out of my system, so I should be around more often to play! Ten! Sorry about flaking on the musical, but if it's okay with Sam ( or Nat? Whoever is in charge while Sam's on hiatus? ) I'd like to throw up a backdated musical post. I already have it typed up.

I'll be throwing up some posts up for the Power Rangers game too, and my goal is to have all my characters for the Star Wars game done by this weekend. So if I'm around and I kinda seem out of it in IMs, it's probably because I'm typing up a storm or something.

america, FUCK YEAH [18 Feb 2009|05:57am]
Hello beer, hello good food, hello jeans and t-shirts. Hello TV, hello movie theatres. Hello high speed internet, hello normal fucking timezone. Hello roads without bombs in them. Hello air-that-doesn't-smell-like-shit. In short.

Hello motherfucking civilization

Goodbye Middle East, and good fucking riddance now and forever.

Yours hatefully,

Me.

P.S I'll be around tomorrow. Tonight? Getting wasted 'till I can't see straight.

I think I have some ideas for the musical in the psl! Ten! I want to bounce an idea off of you for a song narrative with Donnie and maybe featuring Mel? Or it could be a thread if you want ( and if we come up with duet that'd work ). Oh, and Mena, I need to run something by you too for Edmund next time I see you on.

The countdown is officially down to six days. SIX DAYS. Civilization, good food, beer, video games, RP, and did I mention beer?

5 hour internet passcode at the the internet cafe: 10$

Realizing the soldier in the computer booth next to you is beating off to ( what you can only hope is ) his wife on webcam: Priceless.

Yeah, I think I'm fucking traumatized now. Thanks for another glorious memory, Army.

SWEET CHRISTMAS! [29 Jan 2009|05:34pm]
Anyone that doubted MY sagely wisdom that Michael Jai White would make a perfect Luke Cage? BEHOLD!

He even has the old school Power Man look! Man, they need to get rid of Tyrese and cast him. Sigh. I have a mancrush :(

True Blood almost makes me like Vampires again. Then I remember that they're unholy beasts that must be vaquished at all costs, and my resolve to purge the filthy blood suckers is renewed! I have to stop watching it though, I'm just not very good at watching a show all the way through without a break, so I think I'll start up Sons of Anarchy.

P.S Mena! I was thinking about who I could possibly take to nat's game, and I think we need to take salemcenter Pietro and Wanda there and creep everyone out!

It wasn't until today that I remembered that Presidential speeches are supposed to be inspiring and not comedic.

So yeah, good stuff.

The good thing about not having a consistent signal with the internet out here is that I stop screwing around and actually spend my free time working on the Power Rangers and Star Wars games. The bad thing? I get so worked up and excited about games I won't be able to go through with for another 3 or so weeks!! Thankfully, I've been reading a lot to keep me distracted. I think Steven Pressfield is officially my favorite author. The Afghan Campaign is historical fiction based off of Alexander's war with (duh) the Afghan tribes. It hit pretty close to home with me, and I definitely related to it. Everytime I read Pressfield's stuff, I always get this strange surge of pride over my current profession.

Then I quickly remember that the Army's become such a damned joke, and that warrior's pride quickly goes out the window. Either way, his stuff always gets to me. And now for a poem taken straight from The Afghan Campaign:

In The Company Of Soldiers )

Update [04 Jan 2009|08:47am]
We've been getting ready to return home the last week or so, but a few days ago they dropped a bomb on me and six other guys. They decided to send us up to some United Nations compound in the North for guard until we catch a flight back home, which will be roughly a month or so. Good news? It's safe up here, compared to where I was (Mosul). No attacks so it's pretty relaxed. Bad news? Limited internet connectivity ( Yup, my priorities sure are straight, aren't they? ) so I'll have to take an official hiatus from Vigil for now if that's cool, Sam, and I feel really bad about sitting on my holds for the Marvel Zombies game, so feel free to remove them if you need to. Oh, and I think I'm going to drop Victor Strange from Vigil, just not feeling him atm!

I'll keep hopping online when I can to chat. I'll probably occupy my free time working on the Power Rangers, Resident Evil, and Star Wars games I want to do upon my return. I just need to figure out which I want to do first.

Internet went down for a few days, hence the delay. I might not be getting on as frequently in the coming weeks. We're actually starting to get ready to return, but there's no definitive date yet. We could spend anywhere from a week to a month and a half in Kuwait waiting to return, but I'm planning on being stateside Early Feb.

I'll still pop on whenever I can until then though.

I'm sooo sorry. Commo black-out the other day, so I couldn't tag back in the vigil threads I had going. I'm going to just say Edmund went ahead and asked Marley to the dance, probably stepped on her feet, and Donnie was a good little lap dog the whole dance if that's cool?

God, I can't wait to get back to a world without commo black outs.

Btw, Jan. What's that book series Apocalypse Night's based on? I might read them, since I'm kind of Chandler-ed out right now...

addendum to game ideas [13 Dec 2008|03:10am]
A non-campy, darker OC Power Rangers game. Lame? Y/N?

Hell yes. Heath Ledger got a Golden Globe nod. He'd better get an Oscar nod too, because I don't care what anyone says, he deserves it for an incredible performance, and it definitely has nothing to do with the fact he died.

In other Batman news: the this new Batman game looks so badass. Written by Dini, and Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill have been confirmed as voice talents.

rant from hell [05 Dec 2008|11:49am]
a huge, almost incoherent rant chock full of vulgarities from a seriously pissed off soldier follows. if you're sensitive to political opinions, outlooks on certain religions and cultures, than you might not want to read. )

I think I'm a bit burnt out on Raymond Chandler, which is amazing since I read like 5 of his books back-to-back. But I still want something from around that time period or earlier, so I think I'll switch to some HP Lovecraft. Or maybe start up Dashiell Hammett's stuff.

Oh, Sam! Please let me know if the powers I put down for Victor are okay. I'm completely okay with removing/changing anything. Magic is really tricky, and I don't want him to be to crazy with any of it for the game.

I still think a Dr. Strange/Night Nurse sibling would be really awesome.

That's the last time I try food made by a local national ever again. I usually steer clear of it anyway because of the sanitation nightmares I have about their food preparation, but I was on mission and hungry as hell. Serves me right. Had a stomach problem yesterday, but I'm all better now. I seriously need to post something in the powerswap game if it's still running, and get off my ass and finish Piotr's app before bb kills me :[

Oh, and Jan. I finally finished Pathology.

I was really iffy about trying to app this Dr. Strange kid, because I've always looked at Strange as a cool character, but also as a cheap plot device Marvel uses when they can't come up with a way to defuse a situation. He just seems too powerful, and I never really saw any rules that governed the way his magic worked, so I thought playing his son would be a problem because I really feel uncomfortable playing a character with that much power unless he has serious restrictions. I just don't like uber-characters (coughSENTRYcough). After reading The Oath though, I changed my mind. It's really writer dependant. Vaughn did an awesome job of grounding Strange's powers and universe with a set of rules, and even making him very vulnerable in a way that makes perfect sense. So I'm going to go ahead and work on this Strange kid, give him a similar arsenal of magical abilities, but just limit his ability/power to use them. I'm also nixing the Ghost Rider angle for now, since I feel more comfortable approaching the magic thing.

And holy crap. X-Men and Spider-Man Noir are like my fanboy fantasy come true, I can't wait. And the cover to (Uncanny?) X-Men 505 is hawt. X-Men Dames
